Opportunities to Serve

If you would like to sign up for or learn more about any of these opportunities to get involved in Christ Chapel ministries, please contact the church office by calling 508-420-1200 or emailing us at info@christchapelcapecod.org.

Coffee Hour

Volunteers are greatly needed so that we can continue to offer coffee, tea, treats and a great environment for people to fellowship between our two Sunday morning services.

Serving in our Coffee Hour ministry is very easy, and you will always have someone there to help you. Consider signing up for a few Sundays on the sign up sheet located on the Kitchen Door, or contact the church office. Thank you!

Hospitality

Christian Education

Our Sunday School programs have a lasting impact on the lives of our children. Christian Education teachers and assistants are needed throughout the school year and for our Vacation Bible School program in the summer. Age appropriate teaching materials are provided by our Christian Education Committee.

Children's Church

There are plenty of toys and games to entertain the younger children, and all of our Christian Education and nursery volunteers are offered a free CD of the Sunday morning sermon on days when they serve.

Days of Hospitality

Christ Chapel invites you to be part of an outreach ministry to the homeless by volunteering for Salvation Army’s Day of Hospitality. Once every other month we invite a group of homeless individuals to Christ Chapel to serve them lunch, provide an afternoon of entertainment and a chance to just relax and visit.

We need volunteers to transport our guests from the Salvation Army and back, to prepare and serve meals, to provide entertainment or activity such as games, walks, movies, sing-a-longs, etc. While we can not help resolve the challenges facing our homeless guests during the course of the meal that we enjoy with them, we can show the love our our Lord by welcoming them to our Church home for an afternoon.

Gleaners

The Gleaners Ministry is a community outreach that uses the following scripture as it's guide: “When you reap the harvest of your land do not reap to the very edges of your fields or gather the gleanings of your harvest, leave them for the poor.”
~ Leviticus 20:24

The Gleaners collect leftover food donated by local businesses so that we can share in helping the needy, including shelters and group homes, around the Cape.

There are several routes that have been developed on various days of the week. Volunteers are needed to drive regular weekly routes and substitute drivers are always needed as well.

Hospitality Committee

Our Christ Chapel family likes to celebrate! Our facility allows us to enjoy regular fellowship and gathering for meals, which our Hospitality Committee decorates for and prepares. In addition to our weekly Coffee Hour, the Hospitality Committee does receptions for special services such as Lessons and Carols and church member funerals, the Annual Picnic, and other important events.

Whether you have a flair for decorating, cooking or just like to get to know people better and serve the body, the Hospitality Committee is the place for you! Contact the church office to sign up or for more information.

Library

Christ Chapel has a growing library of books and videos available for you and your family to enjoy. If you are interested in volunteering to help process of materials for the church library, please contact the church office.

We are also seeking to enhance our collection of children's books and media in the library. If you have suggestions or items in good condition that you’d like to donate to the library, please contact the church office.

Nursery

There is nothing like spending time with little children to put a smile on your face! Christ Chapel provides a safe place for infants up to three year old children to rest and play during Sunday morning services. There are plenty of toys and games to entertain the children, and all of our nursery volunteers are offered a free CD of Sunday morning sermon.

Meals, Rides & Visits

At times members of our Christ Chapel family need a little extra care. If you are available to prepare meals, offer rides or visit those in need, please let us know by contacting the church office.

Operation Christmas Child

Each year since in 1997 Christ Chapel has participated in Operation Christmas Child, a ministry of Samaritan’s Purse. In 1999 our church began operating as a local collection site for area churches and schools. Through this ministry, our church collected, processed and transported a record 2,739 boxes in 2006! 570 of those boxes were from our church.

Throughout the year, we need volunteers to donate items to pack the Christmas boxes with (please contact the church office for a list of recommended items). On the second Sunday of November, we need a number of volunteers to pack the boxes at our annual “packing party.” The following Friday, we seek volunteers to help pack the trucks that transport the boxes to Samaritan’s Purse. Donations to cover the expense of preparing and transporting the boxes are welcome any time.

Sound Room

Our Sound Room volunteers are an important part of our services. They help make sure our audio visual equipment is working well, record and duplicate the Sunday morning sermons, and sell copies of the messages to anyone who requests one. Technical training is available to anyone interested in volunteering on one or more Sunday mornings per month.

Stephen Ministry

Christ Chapel’s Stephen Ministers are trained to provide confidential, one-to-one, Christian care. They listen, care, encourage, and pray with and for a person of the same gender that has been assigned to them until a life crisis or need is resolved.

The next training session is tentatively scheduled for September 2007. If you are interested in finding out more about Stephen Ministry, please talk with one of our Stephen Ministry Leaders or contact the church office at 508-420-1200.
